Utility Perks

Below are a list of the Utility Perks you may choose from. These will improve your Characters abilities in ways which are neither Combat focused or Magical in nature.

They are particularly well-suited to Characters from the Expert or Support groups, and consequently they may utilize the Expert or Support Die feature. If a Perk makes reference to either a Expert or Support Die and a Character does not have one to roll, they must roll a d4 instead.

If a Perk makes use of Will Points, you gain two Will Points when you gain that Perk.

Animal Companion
  • You are Bonded to an Animal Companion.
  • The Companion takes on the form of a Small or Medium sized Beast of your choosing.
  • The Companion is obedient to you and shares your Turn during a Conflict. You may take your respective Movement and Actions in any order you wish.
  • As a Minor Action, you can Command the Companion to use any Action, with the exception of the Use an Object Action.
    • If you do not provide it with an Action it automatically takes the Dodge Action and moves to a position of your choice.
  • The Companion has the following Stats depending upon whether it is a Small or Medium Sized Beast:

Other Detail
  • Additionally, your Companion has two Companion Perks.
  • Pick any two of the following Companion Perks. These represent the natural abilities your Companion has, relating to the form of Beast it takes. You may change the Perks chosen when you Level Up.
Companion Perks

Flying (available to Small Sized Companions only)

  • Grants a Fly Speed equal to their Speed Bonus.

Climbing

  • Grants a Climb Speed equal to their Speed Bonus.
  • Their Speed Bonus increases by 1.

Swimming

  • Grants a Swim Speed equal to their Speed Bonus and the ability to breathe underwater.
  • The Reach of their Unarmed Strikes increases by 1 Space.

Trained

  • They may add your Skill Bonus to any Focus or Dexterity Skill Check they make.

Swift

  • Their Speed Bonus increases by 2.

Stealthy

  • They have Advantage on Checks to Hide and Remain Unseen and Unheard

Sticky

  • They can climb along vertical surfaces and ceilings without falling.

Resilient

  • They may add your Skill Bonus to their Damage Reduction Bonus.

Blindsight

  • They gain Blindsight with a Range of 2 Spaces. They can See any Obscured Objects or Characters within this Range which are not behind Total Cover.

Nightsight

  • They gain Darkvision with a Range of 12 Spaces.

Nimble

  • Their Movement does not provoke Attacks of Opportunity.
Improved Animal Companion
  • Your Animal Companion may choose two additional Companion Perks, or they may instead use the Large Sized Creature Stat Block:

Other Detail
Skillful (6)
  • You become Skilled in one Skill of your choice.
    • Skills available in most Settings include Athletics, Creativity, Lore, Medicine, Social, Survival, Technology and Trickery.
  • You become Skilled in one set of Tools of your choice.
  • You may take this Perk up to 5 times, becoming Skilled in one additional Skill and set of Tools each time you gain this Perk.
Expertise (8)
  • Choose one Skill and one Tool Skill you are Skilled in. You become an Expert in using that Skill and Tool.
  • Whenever you make a Skill Check using that Skill or Tool, you may add one roll of your Expertise Die to the Result of the Check,
    • If you would benefit from two or more instances of using your Expertise Die on a Check (i.e. you are using a Skill and Tool in which you are an Expert), roll the Expertise Die with Advantage.
  • You may take this Perk up to 8 times, becoming an Expert in one additional Skill and set of Tools each time you gain this Perk.
Crafter (3)
  • You become Skilled in three sets of Tools of your choice.
    • See the Tools Page for the Tools you may choose from.
  • You may take this Perk up to 3 times, becoming Skilled in three additional sets of Tools each time you gain this Perk.
Linguist (5)
  • You learn two Languages of your choice.
  • Additionally you are able to understand all forms of Language to a limited degree. When reading or listening to a language you are unfamiliar with, you are able to understand the general meaning being conveyed (e.g. basic nouns, verbs and grammar). But you will not be able to understand complex details being described nor will you be able to communicate in such Languages.
  • You may take this Perk up to 5 times, learning two additional Languages each time you gain this Perk.
Sprinter (6)
  • Your Speed Bonus increases by 1.
  • You lose the Benefits of this Perk while wearing Restrictive Armor or Shields. You may overcome this limitation with the Armored Acrobat Perk.
  • You may take this Perk up to 6 times, increasing your Speed Bonus by 1 each time.
Fast Talker
  • You may use either the Distract or Negotiate Actions as a Minor Action.
Evasive
  • You may use either the Dash or Stealth Actions as a Minor Action.
Inspire
  • When another Character who can See or Hear you Fails a Check, you may as a Reaction expend a Will Point to add a roll of your Expertise Die to the Result of the Check.
    • If you do not already have Will Points, you gain 2 Will Points.
Leadership
  • As an Action, you may expend two Will Points to give an Inspiring Speech which bolsters the resolve of up to six Characters of your choice who can See and Hear you (including yourself). Each Character chosen gains Temporary Hit Points equal to your Level.
  • Additionally, you have Advantage on Social Skill Checks made against groups of 3 or more Characters.
  • If you do not have Will Points already, you gain two Will Points.
Medic
  • Whenever a Character’s Damage is reduced as a result of a Spell or Effect you caused, their Damage is reduced by an additional amount equal to one roll of your Support Die.
Mounted Training (2)

Experienced Rider

  • While you are Riding a Mount, you gain the following benefits:
    • You have Advantage on all Checks relating to Riding a Mount, including staying seated, controlling a Mount, communicating with a Mount and performing feats of athleticism on a Mount.
  • You do not need to hold your Mount with one hand while Riding.

Cavalry Training

  • If a Mount you are Riding is Targeted by an Attack you can See, you may as a Reaction cause the Attack to Target you instead.
  • If your Mount makes a Physical Defense Roll against an effect you can See, you may as a Reaction cause the Mount to have Advantage on the Check. If the effect would cause half Damage on a Success, the Mount instead takes no Damage.
