Vehicles and Mounts

Vehicles and Mounts represent different modes of transportation which may be used to both transport Characters and Store Objects.

Mounts are Characters capable of independent thought and Actions.

Vehicles are Objects which are typically incapable of independent thought and Actions.

Storing Objects

Vehicles and Mounts are always assumed to include means of storing items.

These might represent a trunk or storage area in vehicles, or saddle bags in Mounts.

Like Player Characters, Vehicles and Trunks have both Equipment Slots and Accessory Slots.

Their number of Equipment Slots will be equal to 5 + their Might. Additionally for each Size Category larger than Medium they are, they will gain an additional 5 Equipment Slots.

All Vehicles and Mounts also have 5 Accessory Slots, which may be used to attach Objects which may enhance them (e.g. barding, a form of armor, for Mounts).

To retrieve and immediately use an Object being Stored in a Vehicle or on a Mount during a Conflict, you must use the Interact Action while you are Adjacent to or Riding it.

Boarding

Within a Combat Conflict you may board or mount a Vehicle or Mount by moving into it’s Space. Conversely you may unmount it by leaving it’s Space.

During a Chase Conflict, you may forgo filling one Section of a Movement Clock to board or unboard a Vehicle or Mount which is in an Adjacent Position. See the Chases Page for more.

Controlling

While you have mounted a Vehicle or Mount, you may Control it using the Interact Action.

When you use the Interact Action, the Vehicle or Mount may takes it’s Turn in Unison with your own turn, provided it has not otherwise had a Turn during that Round.

Treat it as though you are controlling a second Player Character, it may use a Move Action and take an Action. Mounts may use Reactions, but Vehicles typically cannot.

Vehicles and Mounts will describe what their available Actions are, however typically you will want to Move or Defend.

A Mount will always take the Defend Action unless instructed otherwise.

Vehicles take no Action unless a Character is aboard it, or otherwise has a means of acting independently of a Character.
